Four Haifa caretakers indicted on elderly abuse

Four employees of a Haifa senior care facility, Neot Kipat Hazahav, were indicted on charges of elder abuse on Sunday. Caretakers Husam Abu Ahmed, 50, Peter Goskov, 26, and Andre Keys, 49, were indicted for elder abuse and aggravated assault.

Meanwhile nurse Insa Schneider was indicted for elder abuse and is accused of not reporting the alleged abuse.

The indictments, which came after a Channel 2 expose into the care facility, allege that seniors sustained violent abuse from the three caretakers.

According to the Channel 2 investigation, caretakers at the home regularly and systematically abused the elderly, often violently. Pictures and videos show a caretaker physically abusing one helpless man. Other videos show residents being put in wheelchairs for breakfast at 2 a.m. A fifth indictment is expected to be brought against another caretaker on Thursday.
