Gal-On urges talks with Hamas following Egyptian PM visit

Following the Egyptian prime minister's visit to the Gaza Strip on Friday, Meretz leader Zahava Gal-On called on Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Ehud Barak to negotiate with Hamas in order to bring an end to fighting in the South.
"The citizens of the South have the basic right to live in peace and security," Gal-On said. "History proved time and again that another military operation and another targeted hit would only lead to more and more rounds of killing and rockets," she added.
"Real and long-term peace in the South will only be reached by negotiating with Hamas," the Meretz leader stressed.
"Netanyahu and Barak must end the operation and instruct to start talks with Hamas immediately. Only that could prevent another escalation in a few weeks or a few months," she added.
