Haniyeh: No reconciliation with PA arrests in West Bank

Hamas prime minister Ismail Haniyeh said Tuesday that full reconciliation with the Palestinian Authority was at a standstill because of ongoing arrests of Hamas members in the West Bank, according to Hamas-affiliate Al Resalah.
Speaking from a cornerstone laying ceremony at a new school in Gaza, Haniyeh said that "Reconciliation is not made in statements to the media."
He said only practical work and "good faith" will contribute to "internal unity."
The Hamas leader also said there were meeting between Hamas and Fatah scheduled for December 18, between Palestinian factions on December 20, and a meeting with the Palestinian Liberation Organization on December 22, according to the report.
"We'll see what will result from these meetings," Haniyeh said.
