High Court to state: 'Don't pave western part of Route 9'

The High Court accepted a petition by the "Union for Environmental Defense" organization on Sunday, ordering the state not to pave the western part of Route 9 which was to be paved from Hadera eastwards.

The judges have criticized the state's report on the environmental impact of the Route 9 paving, and held that the decision of the state not to test possible alternatives to the paving was unreasonable.

"When it comes to plans that have significant and long-term environmental impacts, the planning agency should give more weight to environmental considerations," the judges said.
