Independence praises PM for halting 'Bar Association Bill'

The Independence Faction on Wednesday praised Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu for freezing legislation that would retroactively change the results of Israel Bar Association elections of representatives to serve on the Judicial Selection Committee which chooses Supreme Court justices.

"This is an unacceptable law which has no place in the State of Israel's book of laws," Independence leader Ehud Barak stated.

Faction chairperson Einat Wilf said that Independence would continue to protect the Supreme Court together with like-minded allies in the coalition.
