Independence: We will vote against judicial selection bill

The Independence Faction said Monday that the party will break with the coalition and vote against the judicial selection reform bill by which candidates for the Supreme Court Judiciary would be appointed only after a public hearing before the Knesset’s Constitution, Law and Justice Committee, which would be able to veto the potential judge.
In response, coalition chairman Ze'ev Elkin, who proposed the legislation, said that the Independence Faction may as well have announced that they quit the coalition.
