Katsav's lawyers met with AG to discuss sentencing

Former President Moshe Katsav’s lawyers met on Monday with Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein in an effort to convince him to postpone the sentencing of Katsav, who was convicted in December of rape and other sexual offences.

The Tel Aviv District Court is scheduled to pass sentencing on Katsav on February 22nd. It is still unknown what type of punishment the State Attorney’s Office will request the court to place on the ex-president, but it is believed that his lawyers want to guarantee a lenient sentence in exchange for a commitment that they won’t appeal the conviction in the Supreme Court.

Weinstein did not provide Katsav’s lawyers with an answer to their requests.
