Lukashenko refutes allegations gov't behind subway blast

The Belorussian president on Saturday refuted allegations that the government was involved in Monday's subway bombing in the capital that killed 13 people and wounded several others, AP reported.
The allegations surface after some bloggers speculated that the authorities may been planned the attack as a way to distract Belorussians from the country's poor economic conditions.
In response, President Alexander Lukashenko said in a speech that "only idiots" would accuse the government in the bombing.
"What they are saying — that this was done to distract the attention from the economic situation — only idiots and scoundrels would make such judgments," he said. "Is the situation in the country so critical that I have to resort to desperate measures? It is not critical."
