Messer's lawyer: Detention was 'totally unnecessary'

Following the release to house arrest of Uri Messer in the Holyland real estate scandal, one of the lawyer’s for former prime minister Ehud Olmert’s associate said that his client’s detention had been "totally unnecessary.”
“Right from the start we asserted that Uri Messer was unconnected to the Holyland affair, and the Petah Tikva District Court judge ruled accordingly when he said that the link between Attorney Messer to the project was ‘indirect,’" said Dror Matityahu in a statement. “It’s unfortunate that an attempt has been made out of external considerations to tie him to the case.”
