Olmert denies claims he got cash envelopes from Talansky

Former prime minister Ehud Olmert on Thursday continued to deny receiving envelopes full of money from New York businessman Moshe Talansky.

While being cross-examinated by Deputy Jerusalem District Attorney Uri Korb, Olmert denied claims that he had originally told Police that he accepted money from Talansky. He stated that Talansky was the one who changed stories.

Olmert called claims that he had received personal gifts or bribes from Talansky "fantasy."

According to the indictment, Uri Messer, Olmert’s longtime friend and former partner, kept a secret cash fund for Olmert that amounted to hundreds of thousands of dollars. Some of the money allegedly came from Talansky and some from other donors. At one point, the indictment stated, the fund amounted to $350,000.
