Outcome of Gaddafi compound strike unclear, US says

WASHINGTON- The effectiveness of a weekend strike on Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi's compound in Tripoli remains unclear, a US military official said on Monday.
A senior US military official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that the strike launched by British forces on Sunday had targeted Gaddafi's military command ability. US officials have said they are not targeting Gaddafi personally.
Libyan officials took foreign reporters into his heavily fortified compound on Monday to show a building they said was destroyed in an allied missile attack.
