PA source: Mashaal, Abbas not scheduled to meet in Turkey

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal are not scheduled to meet in Turkey despite the fact that both Palestinian leaders are present in the country, Israel Radio cited a member of Abbas's entourage as saying.

According to a Turkish news channel, Mashaal had arrived in Istanbul unannounced one day after Abbas's landing.

Abbas is scheduled to visit Turkish President Abdullah Gul, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu during a four-day visit.

Abbas and Mashaal were scheduled to meet Tuesday in Cairo but the meeting was canceled after a disagreement about the appointment of Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Salam Fayyad to head the new Palestinian unity government, Israel Radio said.
