Prosecutors: Scope of Madoff's fraud still unknown

Federal prosecutors said a judge should sentence disgraced financier Bernard Madoff in ten days even though they haven't determined how much money investors lost in his multibillion-dollar Ponzi scheme. US attorneys in New York said the judge should sentence Madoff on June 29 as scheduled. According to court papers released Friday, investigators for the government and a trustee representing victims are working to reconstruct the scope of the fraud. But they said they've been frustrated in their efforts by incomplete records from Madoff's firm.
