Report: PM intervenes last-minute to lower gas price hike

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu intervened for the second this year hours before the government was set to increase gas prices, deciding to lower the hike from NIS 0.20 to NIS 0.05, Channel 2 news reported.
The government announced last Thursday it would raise gas prices due to a jump in the international cost of oil, largely seen as a result of increased sanctions on Iran.
The prime minister made a similar last-minute move last month before the government raised prices, cutting the excise tax on gasoline to decrease the burden on the country's drivers.
