Rivlin: Public service not the place for veterans benefits

Knesset Speaker Reuben Rivlin expressed his opposition to a proposed law that would give preference in the public sector hiring process to IDF veterans and those completing National Service, saying that "the public service cannot be turned into public compensation."
The public service sector, he added, "is not the arena for giving preferential benefits for military veterans." Anybody attempting to do so, he said, "will harm [the public service] and will erode it, and that can't happen."
