The resignation comes at the end of a two-year term in office, and in a letter to the university's directorate, Prof. Galil explained that he wished to return to the pursuit of studies in computer science - his field of expertise.
Galil added that the "administrative intensity" of his current position made it difficult for him to pursue such research.
