Turkish police detain editor of opposition Cumhuriyet newspaper

Turkish police detained the editor-in-chief of the opposition secularist Cumhuriyet newspaper on Monday and said homes of the paper's executives and writers were being searched, broadcaster CNN Turk and other media reported.
Media did not give a reason for the detention of editor Murat Sabuncu or the searches, which came as authorities crack down on anyone suspected of links to US-based cleric Fethullah Gulen, accused by the government of orchestrating a failed coup in July.
