Yesha Council chair praises settler combat requests in IDF

Yesha Council chairman Danny Dayan welcomed Thursday the IDF report that the highest motivation to serve in combat units (61 percent) is among Jewish youth from settlements in the West Bank.
"Recruitment data emphasize that the settler is synonymous with a commitment and dedication to the country," Dayan wrote in a statement. "[The settler] is willing to invest and sacrifice for the greater good."
"These are values which should be built in to all systems of government," Dayan said.
The figures released by the IDF's Manpower Directorate Maj.-Gen. Orna Barbivai also revealed that 36% of those living in the Gush Dan region - which includes Tel Aviv - ask to serve in combat positions.
