The Ashdod Port Company will be implementing a scheme to compensate customers for any occuring delays in the release of merchandise orders. From December 1, the Ashdod port will be committed to guarantee the release of merchandise according to the timetable agreed with customers in writing at the time of the order. In October, delays at the detention departments at the ports, in particular, the Ashdod port, have been causing food importers NIS 500,000 in damages a day as a result of storage costs, losses of orders and missing supply deadlines, according to the Federation of Israeli Chambers of Commerce.
