Blue Green wins Ashdod sewage tender

Blue Green Development & Investments, a subsidiary of Housing & Construction Holding Co. (Shikun u-Binui) won a NIS 36-million tender to treat Ashdod's waste water for six years, with an option to extend the contract for six more years, the company said Sunday. The sewage treatment facility will process 35,000 cubic meters (35 million liters) of waste water daily. Blue Green is second only to Mekorot in handling waste water in Israel, the company said. Two-thirds of Israel's sewage is treated and reused for agricultural irrigation, the highest proportion worldwide, the company said. Spain trails behind in second place, recycling only 13% of its waste water.
