British discount airline Easy Jet announced on Thursday that it will be opening a new route from Tel Aviv to Basel, Switzerland.
From December, the airline will be offering three weekly flights, with tickets starting from €36.
Those traveling to Basel will have an option of flying on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, departing from Ben-Gurion Airport’s Terminal 1 at 1:40 p.m.and arriving in Basel at 5:20 p.m. The return flights depart at 7:55 a.m. and arrive in Tel Aviv at 12:55 p.m. All flights will be aboard Airbus 320, which can seat 180 passengers.
According to Easy Jet, flights to Basel will start at a cost of €35.99 and the return flight will cost €38.15. The low prices are guaranteed only to those who book well in advance, and the price doesn’t include meals or luggage handling. Easy Jet’s Israeli spokesman explained that the difference in price was the result of different airport taxes between airports.
In addition to the Basel flights, Easy Jet is also expanding its flight service to London’s Luton Airport. Starting October, it will be offering daily flights instead of the current six flights a week. The average price of a one-way ticket from Tel Aviv to London is €123.
Easy Jet Is Britain’s biggest airline, and the fourth largest in Europe in terms of passengers.
The airline operates 100 routes and operates out of 50 different airports.
