Golden Lines gets VOB license

distance telephone provider 012 Golden Lines has received a full license to expand its activities to fixed line calling.

Internet and long distance telephone provider 012 Golden Lines has received a full license to expand its activities to fixed line calling. Golden Lines said Monday it received a license from the Communications Ministry to offer the service through its Voice over Broadband infrastructure, becoming the first company in Israel to get the VOB permit. The company previously had a license to provide phone service to the business sector but only an experimental license for the wider domestic market through which it has recruited 13,000 customers. The move was somewhat expected after Communications Minister Ariel Attias said last week he would open the fixed-line telephone market through Internet-based technologies to increase competition with Bezeq.
