The Masa experience helps Jews of diverse backgrounds appreciate Israel and Jewish life in the present and empowers them to actively shape the future of the Jewish people.

As the director of Masa Israel Teaching Fellows, I've been privileged to a front row seat to many magical moments of learning, connecting, growth and incredible impact.

Jewish communities worldwide are represented in this celebration of Masa at 18, the numerical equivalent of chai, a significant symbol of life.

"Like the four species" waved during Sukkot "that cannot stand alone, so too, the Jewish community is not complete without the Diaspora Jews," Roll said.

For new American olim who made aliyah life in Israel – including religious life – can sometimes seem foreign, Yom Kippur represents a familiar and comforting aspect that allows olim to feel at home.

In addition, Masa will also open up summer programs for 16-year olds for between six to 10 weeks, as well as semester abroad programs.

Thousands of young adults are preparing to travel to Israel through Masa for a gap year, internship, study abroad, volunteer, or professional training program.

Along with yeshiva and university and other educational programs, the Israel Experience branch of the Jewish Agency recently brought 20 young people from around the Jewish world to Israel.
