If there is one particular thing for which Herzog is well known, it’s the introduction of members of his family into many of his conversations with both local and foreign dignitaries.

Herzog lauded Huckabee’s commitment to the return of the hostages and the safety and security of Israel’s citizens.

The US Senate confirmed former Huckabee to be the country’s ambassador to Israel last week, installing a staunch pro-Israel conservative in the high-profile post.

An evangelical Christian, Huckabee has been a vocal Israel supporter and has defended Jewish settlements in the West Bank.

This follows Trump's withdrawal of Elise Stafanik's nomination after concerns that her exit from the House of Representatives could affect the Republican legislative majority.

Pulling her from the nomination would be done in part because of concern about Republicans' tight majority in the House of Representatives, which she would leave if confirmed for the post.

“Governor Huckabee brings a profound understanding of the security challenges confronting Israel and an unwavering commitment to the US-Israel alliance,” said the director of OU Advocacy Center.
