WASHINGTON — The White House stated Tuesday that President Barack Obama traveled Monday and Tuesday to Mississippi, Alabama and Florida — three states whose shores and economies are being affected by the BP oil spill, the worst spill in U.S. history.

The trip will be Obama's fourth to the region since the deep-sea leak began April 20 with the explosion of an oil rig leased by British Petroleum.
