Senior PA official Riyad al-Maliki claimed Monday that Israel is conducting a diplomatic war against the Palestinian Authority's efforts to gain global recognition of a Palestinian state, Israel Radio reported.

Al-Maliki said that the Palestinian Authority had been informed that Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon had been in contact with Chilean officials to dissuade them from recognizing a Palestinian state.

US Secretary of State Hilary Clinton had also been in contact with Chilean leaders regarding the issue, he claimed.
