Barak to Assad: Let's return to the negotiating table

Following a fiery exchange of words earlier Thursday between Syria and Israel, Defense Minister Ehud Barak called on Syrian President Bashar Assad to "return to the negotiating table, instead of trading harsh words."
"I am part of the minority who is not impressed with the sentiments expressed over the last two days," said Barak.
In statements made at a Labor Party faction meeting Thursday evening, the defense minister said that "Israel is strong today as a result of the Second Lebanon War and Operation Cast Lead." But Barak also made the point that Israel must still work towards reaching final status agreements.
