Tatami restaurant, one of Haifa’s most prominent Asian-cuisine establishments, is undergoing a significant transformation. As part of the move, the restaurant will relocate to a new address at 13 Moriah Avenue and become a kosher restaurant. Ahead of the reopening, Tatami is also unveiling an updated menu that has been rebuilt over the past few months.
According to the restaurant, they have recently identified a significant increase in demand from diners seeking to enjoy modern kosher Asian cuisine. As a result, the menu has been newly adapted: A kosher version, alongside dishes suitable for pregnant women, gluten-sensitive diners, as well as vegetarians and vegans. Throughout this process, the restaurant emphasizes, they have maintained their commitment to high-quality ingredients and the Japanese-Asian style that has defined Tatami since its opening.
The restaurant owner, Eran Levy, explains that the move is based on a vision of making the dining experience accessible to more audiences. According to him, “We wanted everyone to be able to sit around the table and enjoy — whether they keep kosher, are pregnant, or avoid gluten. This is our message: Food connects, not separates.” Levy added that in light of the economic situation, the restaurant sought to ease the burden on customers in terms of price as well, and internal adjustments were made to enable this.
Alongside expanding the menu and relocating, Tatami emphasizes that it also decided on an average reduction of about 15% in dish prices, both for dine-in and delivery — without compromising portion size or ingredient quality.
The new restaurant is located at 13 Moriah Avenue, Haifa
