MK Bennie Begin sounds off to 'The Jerusalem Post' about current Knesset legislation.
What we face is not only anti-democratic in the substantive sense, but a form of conduct that can best be described by means of the oxymoron “bully democracy.”
The bill in question, proposed by Interior Committee chairman David Amsalem of Likud, would prohibit the police from summarizing and making recommendations in high-profile investigations.
All this could have been prevented if Netanyahu had avoided acting from his gut, against the advice of the IDF and all the intelligence services.
“It’s not just and it’s not right,” Bennie Begin says in response to efforts regarding new legislation allowing building on Palestinian land.
"A man who was completely dedicated to working against the formation of a Hamas based state in the West Bank is not acceptable, but a man who promised to occupy Gaza is completely Kosher."
Begin said that sometimes the policy works and that the courts must continue to police specific cases where the policy is not appropriate.
MK says decision by Netanyahu 'irresponsible toward defense establishment and the citizens of Israel.'
Bill states that Israel is nation-state of Jewish people based on foundations of liberty, justice, and peace, and upholds equal rights for all.
Latest version of the much-debated legislation, which partly sparked the last election, simply states that Israel is Jewish and democratic.
