Defense Minister Ehud Barak said Tuesday that an army drill recently carried out by Syria was performed out of fear and not for security reasons.

"The Assad family is losing its grip and Syrian President Bashar Assad is doomed to fall," Barak said during a tour of a Golani Brigade drill in the north.

Barak said that Assad's fall from power will deal a harsh blow the radical axis, and also weaken Hezbollah in Lebanon.
