C'tee limits money for navy seals sick from Kishon River

The committee determining reparations to be paid to navy soldiers who got sick while scuba diving in the Kishon River decided Tuesday to limit payments the soldiers would receive based on their medical condition.

The committee, chaired by Professor Adi Shani, determined that no scientific connection between cancer and exposure to Kishon waters can be proven.

The recommendations which the committee delivered to the Defense Ministry, stated that no reparations should be given to soldiers who smoked or were exposed to carcinogens at their jobs. The committee also recommended that soldiers who got sick in the Kishon prior to 1975 should not be compensated.
