Labor Party leader Shelly Yacimovich sent her condolences to the family of Majdi Halabi, a Druse IDF soldier who had been missing since 2005, after the announcement that his body had been identified on Thursday.

Yacimovich said: "Our hearts are with the Halabi family after seven years of long agony vanished hopes to find their son alive."

She added: "In these moments we must evaluate the dignity and determination of the Halabi family in their fight to try and locate their son."
