Israeli woman dies in off-road competition in India

Resident of Gadera killed on "Desert Queen" outdoor, personal empowerment adventure; two others injured.

A 63-year-old Israeli women, Shoshana Meizel from Gadera, was killed in a jeep accident that happened on the "Desert Queen" expedition in Rajasthan on Friday morning.
One of the jeeps in the convoy flipped over. Two other women were injured in the accident.
Due to sever weather, Mezel's body cannot be transported back to Israel until Monday. The woman's family has been informed.
Desert Queen is a jeep journey, exclusively for Israeli women, which takes place in some of the most exotic and challenging landscapes in the world. It combines a competitive outdoor adventure and four-wheel-drive driving expedition with personal empowerment. The sand dunes of the desert state sees Israeli women vying for the coveted title "Queen of the Desert" in an off road competition.
The wounded were evacuated to a local hospital, although the severity of their injuries remain unclear. They have recently been transferred to a hospital in Mumbai.
Last month, an Israeli backpacker was killed in a rockslide near the northern Indian city of Dharamsala. The woman was hit by a rock and critically injured, succumbing to her wounds before rescue services arrived.
Some 40,000–50,000 Israelis travel to India each year, according to Indian tourism figures in 2011.
