DR, Caribbean ambassador meets new Haitian president

Ambassador to the Dominican Republic and Caribbean, Marco Cesare Sermoneta – a former Jerusalem Post night clerk – met this week in Port-au-Prince with new Haitian President Michel Martelly.

Martelly expressed his appreciation  for the aid Israel sent his country after the devastating 2010 earthquake, and said his wife on Tuesday visited – and walked away impressed from –the new trauma center set up by Israel in the central hospital in Cap-Haitien, a city of about 190,000 people on the country's north coast. In addition to equipping the trauma center, Israeli doctors and nurses also trained the staff there.
