Tropical storm Beatriz forms off Mexico coast

MEXICO CITY - Tropical Storm Beatriz, the second named storm of the Pacific hurricane season, formed off Mexico's Pacific Coast, the U.S. National Hurricane Center said on Sunday.
A hurricane watch is in effect for the Mexican coast north from the tourist town of Zihuatanejo to Manzanillo and the storm should brush the coast at hurricane strength on Tuesday morning, according to the center.
Beatriz was 205 miles (330 km) southwest of Punto Maldonado, Mexico and headed west-northwest at 10 mph (17 kph) with maximum sustained winds of 40 mph (65 kph) according to a report at 2 p.m. EST (1800 GMT).
Mexico has no oil installations in the Pacific but its coast is dotted with beach resorts popular with US tourists.
