Senior police officer reportedly refuses alcohol test

Jerusalem officer asked to undergo routine "breathalizer" test after he arrived at police checkpoint in Talpiot wearing civilian clothes.

Israel Police Insp.-Gen. Yochanan Danino ordered an investigation on Monday into claims that a senior officer recently refused an alcohol breath test at a police checkpoint in Jerusalem.
According to the claims, published by Ynet, volunteers at the Moriah police sub-district in Jerusalem asked then-subdistrict head Doron Yadid to undergo a routine alcohol test after he arrived at a police checkpoint in the Talpiot neighborhood wearing civilian clothing.

The volunteers did not recognize Yadid, and stopped his car so they could administer the alcohol test. The report claimed Yadid reacted with outrage and refused to take the test. Police have denied the claims, the report said.
Yadid has since been promoted to the rank of lieutenant-commander and assigned to head a police training division.
In response to the report, police released a statement calling Yadid “a leading officer with many accomplishments to his name.”
In light of the severity of the allegations, however, Danino – announcing a policy of zero tolerance of inappropriate police conduct – ordered the head of the police’s disciplinary division to examine the claims.
