150,000 High school students take math matriculation exam

Some 150,000 high school students across the country took the matriculation exam in mathematics on Monday. This is the first time students are taking the exam following the launch of Education Minister Naftali Bennett’s national plan to strengthen mathematics and science studies. Bennett said on Monday that the ministry’s goal is to see 12,500 students taking the five unit math exam (the highest level of math studies) this year and expanding this number to 18,000 students in three years. He noted that the plan will especially allocate resources to strengthening math studies in the periphery.“If we reach this [goal], then we will know that we have saved the future of the State of Israel,” Bennett said on Monday.
