Duran Duran delays Tel Aviv show

British rock band Duran Duran has postponed its upcoming European summer tour, which included a July 30 show in Tel Aviv, due to lead singer Simon Le Bon’s ongoing vocal problems. Doctor’s believe Le Bon damaged the muscles controlling his vocal chords during a show in Cannes in early May, causing him to temporarily lose the top part of his range. The band released a statement over the weekend saying it plans to reschedule the four-month European tour as soon as Le Bon is back to full form.
The band – which was huge in the 1980s and is riding on the comeback trail – was slated to perform in the second part of the summer’s Pic.nic festival that is kicking off next week with Moby on July 12 and will continue on September 1 with Jane’s Addiction. Duran Duran ticket holders can get a full refund for the show or transfer their tickets to one of the other shows in the festival, or for a show on October 22 by Roxette.
Promoter Shuki Weiss released an announcement on Saturday night saying, “We apologize for any inconvenience, we’re in touch with Duran Duran’s management and we hope to announce a new date for the show soon.”
