Report: West Bank school teachers go on strike over salary

Teachers in the West Bank on Saturday announced a three-day general strike in all public schools to protest the delay in paying salaries, official Palestinian Authority news agency WAFA reported.

WAFA quoted the head of the General Union of Palestinian Teachers as saying a protest will be held in Ramallah along with the three-day strike, which will go ahead even though the second semester of the school year is supposed to begin on Sunday.

Ahmad Sehwail, warned of “unprecedented escalatory steps” if an agreement with the Palestinian Authority could not be reached, WAFA reported.
