Rishon to hold Pessah ecological festival

Rishon LeZion will be hosting its third annual ecological festival during the first two chol hamoed days of Pessah – Wednesday and Thursday – in conjunction with the Environmental Protection Ministry, focusing on wise consumption and waste separation through performances, presentations and workshops where families can create useful products from recycled materials, the city hall announced this week.
The festival – located in the city’s Neot Shikma Park – will be centered around a "Forest of Facts" that will feature trees that bear information on ecological subjects, and forest paths that each lead to workshops about different types of recycling – electronics, bottles, textiles, cardboard/paper, tires and nylon. Students from the Shlomi Center for Alternative Theater will act in a “Super Environmental” area, while stars from the Israeli television show A Star is Born (Kokhav Nolad) will perform at 2 p.m. on the first day. At a bartering market, visitors will be able to exchange three bottles to “buy” used items, many of which were collected during a citywide drive that took place between April 5 and 14 that also provided goods to the needy.
Entrance to the festival is free, but NIS 20 provides access to four workshops. Additional details are available at (03) 965-0063 or www.hironit.co.il.
