Ex-Defense Ministry D-G: Drop in Israel-Turkey security ties

There has been a significant drop in security cooperation between Israel and Turkey, former Defense Ministry director-general Maj-Gen. (res.) Amos Yaron said Sunday.
"In the past there was a joint strategic vision, but that changed with the rise of [Turkish Prime Minster Recep Tayyip] Erdogan to power," Yaron said at a conference in Herzliya. "If there are signs of even a small change in Turkish policy, Israel will jump at the opportunity."
Also addressing the conference, opposition leader Tzipi Livni said that while Erdogan might be interested in mediating between Israel an Syria, or between the US and Iran, he "has to choose between the extremist camp headed by Teheran and the moderate camp led by Washington."
