Officials deny Prosor given UN job

Israel’s ambassador to Britain Ron Prosor will not be the country’s next envoy to the UN, senior diplomatic officials said Wednesday, denying media reports to the contrary throughout the day.
“Prosor will remain in Britain,” one official said, denying that Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman had agreed to send Prosor to the UN. Lieberman told reporters Tuesday that a new envoy would be in place on August 1, but would not reveal the name of the new appointee.
Gabriela Shalev, the current ambassador, is finishing up her two-year term and will leave her post on September 1 to return to the Ono Academic College.
