Police on Sunday said that Pyotr Rabinovich, 24, is the suspect in last month’s murder of 39-year-old Nadia Vilkina, woman who was found dead and tied up in her apartment in Haifa’s Neveh David neighborhood.
Police suspect Vilkina was trying to help Rabinovich, who had recently been released from a drug rehab facility, by letting him stay at her home for a couple of days. When she asked him to leave, he allegedly tied her up and strangled her to death, leaving her body in her room.
The suspect continued to live in Vilkina’s apartment for over two weeks and allegedly drew money from her bank account using her credit card. Her body was only discovered when her landlord, who was coming to evict her from the apartment, let himself in and found it.
