UK: 8 Iraqis arrested for killing military police

LONDON — Eight Iraqis suspected of killing British military police in 2003 have been arrested and will go to trial, according to Britain's Defense Ministry.
In a statement released Friday, the ministry said that a judge in Iraq was reviewing the evidence against the suspects.
The six British military policemen were killed by an Iraqi mob in the town of Majar al-Kabir in June 2003.
The ministry said that the British government is committed to seeing the killers brought to justice and that it is assisting the Iraqi government to secure convictions.
The eight suspects were arrested in 2006 and 2009 and have been held in custody since, the statement added.
