Yemen: Al-Qaida operative killed in shootout in south

An al-Qaida operative in Yemen was killed and two others were wounded in a shootout with security guards at a farm owned by Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh, AFP reported on Saturday.
A security official said the exchange of fire took place in the south of the country, considered a stronghold of a terrorist organization affiliated with al-Qaida.
On Friday, US media reported that leader of al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula, Anwar al-Awlaki was not hit when a missile was fired at a car in southern Yemen on Thursday, killing two people believed to be al-Qaida militants.
